I have created 2013 servers and the 2010 was running as front server.

Now the space on the old server is too big and for some reason I could not shrink the virtualized server size. I have tried defragments or  a lot different ways, in the end I decide to move the mails out of 2010 so I can easily work on the left.

So long story short, create a new mail database on exchange 2013.

Use following command to create migration batches.

Get-Mailbox -Database DB01 | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase DB02 -BatchName "DB01toDB02"

you can create multiple batch as you like, here is the command to get the status of migration status.

get-moverequest -batchname "DB01toDB02" >> logs.csv

Then yo9 can view the running move request status. Cheers!
